Monday Morning
Good morning! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Monday doesn't seem too bad this week since I'm only working for 2 days. It'll be so nice to have a little break for the holiday!Friday was my birthday. I got some money from my parents and from my in-laws so we went out to dinner and I picked up a few things I'd been wanting. Thank you Mom, Dad, Joel and Susan! Jon got me a gift certificate for an hour-long massage at Merle Norman. I can't wait to use it.
This weekend, I went shopping for Thanksgiving dinner. First I went to the commissary, then I went to Walmart to pick up the stuff that I either forgot or couldn't find on the first trip...LOL. Both stores were nuts and I'm really hoping NOT to have to shop again until the holiday is over.
Yesterday, I cleaned the house and did some laundry. I spent almost all day in my jammies and then had dinner delivered. It was really nice to relax for a while.
The big news for today is......Jon's finally getting promoted on the 1st of December! The Army promotion system is a bit odd to those who aren't familiar with it. Basically, there is a "centralized promotion board" that reviews the files. They look at the soldiers in each MOS (job category) who are elligible for promotion and compose a list of those soldiers. Each soldier on the list is assigned a "sequence number." The list is published approximately once a year and then each month, they decide how many soldiers from the list will be promoted. Once your sequence number comes up, you pin your new rank on the first of the following month. So, after a year of waiting, Jon's number finally came up. Merry Christmas to us...LOL!
My parents have officially left New York state. They're in PA right now and will be here tomorrow. Yippee! I'll probably be MIA for a while I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'll TTYS! :o)
